Responsibility, the Frat’s Guiding Principle this 92nd Year.

For Beta Epsilon’s 92nd year, the word used to describe the overall mindset and direction of the brotherhood for the year is “Responsibility.” Responsibility is such a powerful word because it encompasses so many meanings aligned with the fraternity’s aims and ideals.

First, Responsibility is synonymous with duty. Founded by nine student-athletes and leaders in 1929, the Beta Epsilon continues to live out its purpose of forming virtuous men who promote high standards of scholarship, athletics, and social service. As both College of Engineering students and children of our motherland, it is the duty of the brothers to serve the country through their line of studies by virtue and example.

Next, Responsibility is akin to trustworthiness. As responsible gentlemen, the brothers of the fraternity exude excellence in all that they undertake. They are regarded as individuals who go above and beyond what is entrusted to them by their peers, whether in the household, the University, or their respective organizations and companies. To this day, Beta Epsilon remains to be a producer of high-quality leaders who create an impact on their industries and the world.

Last and most importantly, Responsibility is tantamount to social accountability. As author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry once wrote, “You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.” As brothers, they are responsible for one another, the family that has stood the test of time for 92 years. Their brotherhood goes beyond the confines of interpersonal relationships, having tamed one another, creating unbreakable bonds that last a lifetime. As a brotherhood of Engineers, they are also responsible for the college particularly, the community that they continue to care for no matter the situation. Finally, as mga iskolar ng bayan, they are responsible for the nation’s future and the betterment of the Filipino people.

In holding on to the virtue of Responsibility this 92nd year, the fraternity shall do its best to serve the community. Beta Epsilon, Mabuhay!
