Beta Epsilon Gives Back
by Enrico Fernando Jr. BE’17D
Providing ideals of social service and promoting the interests of the college, the UP Beta Epsilon Fraternity continues to find ways to serve the Engineering community. The Betan Assistance to the Staff of Engineering (BASE), is a new initiative of the fraternity to show its thanks and support to the hardworking, non-academic staff of the College of Engineering.
Due to the pandemic, the university is now entering its second year of its online setup. Despite the unnatural setup and the difficulties brought upon by the pandemic, the staff of the college ceaselessly do their best to serve the college. This effort is recognized by the brothers of the fraternity, and for them, it is only proper to provide aid as gratitude to the staff’s service.
Last October 13, the brothers packed and distributed 255 care packages containing groceries, masks and alcohol to the non-academic staff of the College of Engineering. They include admin officials, security guards and the maintenance staff of the college. Included are the staff of the Dean’s Office, Assoc. Dean’s Office, College Secretary, BMO, Melchor Hall, Engineering Library, ERDT, NEC, NECFI, Printing Office, Property Office, and, the academic departments, namely, DChE, DCS, DGE, DME, DMMME, EEEI, ICE, EgyE, EnE, and NGSE.
In these difficult times, we continue to show our appreciation for the daily sacrifices of those who continue to serve.
